Abstract

The study on the development of critical thinking through the use of ICT in language and communication training in higher education addressed the importance of integrating these technologies with higher education to enhance critical thinking. This research was carried out in a global context where the ability to analyze, evaluate and synthesize information is essential for academic and professional success. The main objective was to analyze how technologies positively influence the development of critical skills and language and communication in university students, belonging to the State University of the South of Manabí, Ecuador. A methodology was applied in which the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was used, through surveys and interviews carried out with teachers and students, the results were known in which it is demonstrated that the use of technologies significantly facilitates the development of the critical thinking, highlighting analytical, reflective and evaluative thinking among students. Furthermore, both teachers and students perceive these tools as effective in improving teaching-learning. It is concluded that the effectiveness of these technological tools depends on adequate pedagogical integration and equitable access to them, in which continuous training is recommended for teachers and students in the critical and ethical use of ICT.
