A structural model for measuring integration of circular economy practices in the product and process management
This paper develops an interpretive structural model for measuring integration of Circular Economy (CE) practices in product and process management systems. The model development is based on the review of previous works, to identify the variables and approaches used by the authors. The methodology used consisted of five steps: (i) Research question, (ii) Formulation of hypotheses, (iii) Search in databases, (iv) Selection of information, and (v) Elaboration of the structural model. The model variables that represent and allow the integration of CE practices in product and process management systems are Business Management, Product Management, Quality Management and Control, and Consumer Integration. In addition, a checklist/qualification type tool was developed to measure the integration degree of CE practices. This work constitutes an academic contribution to the need for tools to quantify circularity in business management, is congruent with previous approaches identified in the literature, and differs from other models due to its applicability to companies in any sector and by considering all stages of the product life cycle.
