Abstract

Some rural areas of the Duitama municipality face problematic situations that limit their socioeconomic development. Despite this, rural women for several decades have assumed a leading role in promoting entrepreneurship as a strategy to strengthen the economy in these geographic spaces. From this perspective, the purpose of this study is to analyze and interpret the role of women from the La Trinidad and San Antonio villages of the Duitama municipality in the development of agricultural activities aimed at strengthening their quality of life and that of their family nucleus. This is an investigation in which the qualitative method approached from the case study is privileged to carry out a contextual analysis, of opinions, arguments and reflections of women in this context, in order to understand how their entrepreneurial nature has allowed a new rurality to emerge. The results of the investigative process are conclusive, since it is evident the need to promote the integral development of rural women in such a way that they become a social protagonist to strengthen entrepreneurship in their community and therefore mitigate their segregation from society and the State.
