Strengthening of reading comprehension, through the use of ICT as a learning strategy

This study presents the results of a school experience, in which ICTs were integrated as a learning strategy to strengthen reading comprehension in students of basic secondary education, belonging to educational institutions in the municipality of Sogamoso, Boyacá, Colombia. A pedagogical strategy was proposed which was developed in two learning environments, one of an innovative nature in which ICTs were integrated into school activities aimed at strengthening reading comprehension and the other learning environment framed in the development of traditional classes. The research method used was nested or mixed, in which quantitative and qualitative research intertwine, the study was oriented from descriptive research and the design used is directed from the pre-experimental method or hypothesis test. Based on the development of the pedagogical strategy, it was concluded that the level of reading comprehension reached a high level through the use of the ICT-mediated learning environment, which allows elucidating that one of the reasons why students present low performance in text comprehension is due to the teaching resources and strategy used by the teacher for this purpose.
