Improvement plan for the control of mealybugs in banana crops in the Los Ríos area, Ecuador

This paper presents research on the importance of implementing an improvement plan for the control of mealybugs in banana crops in the Los Ríos region of Ecuador, as a viable and effective alternative to reduce the presence of mealybugs in banana bunches at the field and packinghouse levels. The research was proposed according to the description of the problem, where it was decided to determine the improvement proposals aimed at achieving an efficient control of mealybugs in banana crops, which is deficient in banana farms. The research design is of the non-experimental type, in which a compilation of information from various bibliographic sources and from the banana farm under study was carried out, which allowed to establish the best results in relation to the improvement plan for the control of mealybugs in banana crops. According to the results obtained, it is evident that the control mechanisms for mealybugs in the banana crop represent the fundamental basis of the improvement plan, which should be applied correctly to reduce the negative effects of mealybugs in the banana crop production process. Among the most important control mechanisms are: prevention mechanisms, monitoring mechanisms, chemical control, cultural control and physical control.
