Contribution of the curricular design of the medicine course of the San Gregorio de Portoviejo university to academic development and educational research
The process of curriculum design is conceived as a stepped pyramid, at the top of which is the set of learning activities or experiences that constitute the curriculum, framed in its two aspects: scientific and educational; defining in turn, its scientific approach as the realization of study plans and programs that support the programmatic contents so that they can represent the cognitive domains within the learning process; on the other hand, the educational approach, emphasizes the qualities and skills to be achieved by the students with the participation of the teacher as a facilitator of teaching. The objective of this research is to evaluate the contribution of the curricular design of the Medical School of the Universidad San Gregorio de Portoviejo to academic development and educational research. It is a qualitative research, the analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, and systemic methods were used, in addition to reviewing bibliographic sources that address issues related to curriculum design, the contribution of the curriculum to academic development and educational research, training by competencies and curriculum evaluation, in addition to other sources that are theoretical references in the field of curriculum, as well as the documentary analysis of the curriculum project of the USGP Medicine career. It was identified that the curricular project under evaluation contributes significantly to academic development since it conceives the formation and development of generic and specific competencies in the process of professional training and curricular research as part of it makes the formative process viable in terms of new competencies, awareness of change, generation of theories and transformation of knowledge societies in real times of short-range and great depth.
