Abstract

Exposure to high levels of noise has a significant impact on human behavior. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact on scientific production related to aggressive behaviors of motorcyclists associated with motorcycle-generated noise, through a bibliometric analysis during the period between 2003 and 2023. The results highlight the most recurrent keywords: “noise pollution”, “traffic noise”, “road traffic”, and “behavioral research”. Most articles are in the Q1 and Q2 research quality categories. Among the most influential authors are figures like Calvo JA, Amini H, and Barber Jr, while the countries that have contributed the most in this field are the United Kingdom, the United States, and Spain. Additionally, factorial analysis identified two main dimensions. The first dimension is related to environmental noise, psychology, and pollution, while the second dimension focuses on urban traffic noise and transportation. It is concluded that there is a growing interest in investigating aggressive behaviors of motorcycle riders related to noise, especially among the young population. This phenomenon is relevant in urban contexts of countries with social inequalities, where the expansion of the automotive industry and the widespread use of motorcycles as a means of transportation and source of income are exacerbated by their accessibility and low costs.
