Causes of obesity in families in an urban community in the province of Esmeraldas
The increasing rise of obesity lies in its connection to chronic diseases that affect the overall health of the population. The purpose of this research was to identify the underlying causes of obesity in families from the Las Palmas community in the city of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. This research has a descriptive scope, consisting of identifying the most prevalent causes of obesity through a multidimensional analysis in family members who presented a specific risk of developing it. The results, based on physical and virtual surveys (Google Drive), highlight the participatory predisposition of the sample community and the relationship with factors identifiedas causes of obesity. Thus, emphasis is placed on a comprehensive approach encompassing interventions aimed at improving dietary habits, promoting physical activity, combating social discrimination associated with weight, as well as raising greater awareness about health and general well-being. These findings underscore the complexity of obesity as a multifactorial health problem, influenced by a variety of individual, social, and environmental factors. Placing importance on understanding within the family environment to reduce the consequences leading to this anomaly accentuates excessive body weight.
