Artificial intelligence applied to mathematics teaching
This study aimed to explore the application of artificial intelligence in mathematics teaching and evaluate its impact on student engagement and academic performance. The importance of this study lies in the need to address the challenges in mathematics teaching by incorporating innovative technologies, with the purpose of personalizing the educational experience and improving learning outcomes. The methodology adopted was mixed, a multiple case study design was implemented, examining various implementations of educational environments with artificial intelligence, data collection included semi-structured interviews, surveys and data analysis. The results revealed high student participation, significant improvement in academic performance, and mostly positive student perceptions of high satisfaction. In conclusion, the adaptability of artificial intelligence made it possible to personalize learning, increase participation and improve academic performance. Although the majority of students experienced significant benefits, a minority group was identified that did not experience notable improvements, pointing to the continued need for adjustments and customization in the implementation of artificial intelligence. This study contributes to the understanding of how artificial intelligence transforms mathematics education and offers valuable insights for future implementations and improvements
