Virtual education in times of pandemic
Virtual education during the pandemic was a challenging issue in the global educational field. The rapid spread of COVID-19 forced educational institutions at all levels to adopt virtual modalities to ensure continuity of learning. It not only transformed the way education is delivered but also posed a number of challenges and opportunities. One of the main challenges was the rapid adaptation of teachers, students and parents to online learning platforms. This forced transition led to a significant increase in the use of educational technologies, from video conferencing applications to learning management platforms, which highlighted the existing digital divide between different communities and regions. Virtual education during the pandemic also highlighted the importance of flexibility and personalization in the educational process. Educators had to develop new pedagogical strategies to adapt content and activities to the virtual environment, providing individualized support to students to ensure their participation and understanding. Additionally, a change was observed in classroom dynamics, as face-to-face interaction was replaced by virtual sessions. This led to the implementation of new forms of collaboration and communication between students and teachers, encouraging the use of digital tools for discussions, teamwork and collaborative projects. It is crucial to highlight that the effectiveness of virtual education depends on technological infrastructure, teacher training and continuous support for students.
