Ligitimation of economic inequality in the University of Cartagena-Bolívar

This paper aims to identify the characteristics of the legitimation of economic inequality in university students in the city of Cartagena, Bolívar. A descriptive design was used, taking university students as the population, and selected with a non-probability sampling of 62 students. The results show that social categories are based on the possibility of having access to better educational and health services, the critical points of economic inequality in groups of people who do not have access to decent living conditions, leading to privileged groups to discriminate against the disadvantaged according to their social interests. For this reason, the social categories within the justification of the economic system maintain the strengthening of the social inclusion policy in order to give a change of vision towards human development policies with a rights approach, also allowing access to goods and services for people with criteria of relevance, quality and availability; respect for the difference towards university students and their due acceptance as part of diversity; accessibility; equal opportunities and elimination of practices that lead to marginalization and segregation of any kind in order to promote their human development, human security and the exercise of their rights with equity.
