Diagnosis of environmental education in university students in Sonora and Tamaulipas Mexico

Abstract

As part of the activities carried out by a university is training professionals in their area of ​​specialization, however, considering university social responsibility, these must also contribute to the training of professionals with environmental awareness, interested in social problems and in take part in projects related to development. The objective of the present work was to carry out a diagnostic study of environmental education in students of the University of Sonora and the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, in order to identify the trends of the attitudes of the students in the matter of care of the environment. As part of the methodology, a survey was applied to a sample of students from the University of Sonora and from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas. As results, the interest of the students for issues related to the care of the environment is observed, but there is still unawareness of the subject. As conclusions, it is found that although environmental education contributes to caring for the environment, it can be seen as an area of ​​opportunity to involve students more in issues of caring for the environment.
