Development of entrepreneurial capacity in financial management students of the distance learning modality at the University of the Amazon
This paper studies the entrepreneurial capacity of students in the Distance Financial Management program at the Universidad de la Amazonia. New theoretical and contextual variables are taken into account and it is contrasted with recent reports, such as (Schmutzler et al., 2024) and (Monsalve-Castro et al., 2023). A mixed approach and a sample of 112 students were used, to whom a survey was applied to measure entrepreneurial competencies. The findings show an important level of entrepreneurial intention, especially among women, although this willingness is held back by external aspects such as poor access to financing and the informality of the market. Institutional support, together with its incorporation into the curriculum, is presented as an
indispensable pillar for promoting entrepreneurship. Finally, the strengthening of the university environment and its articulation with local and regional actors is essential to cement an entrepreneurial culture in peripheral regions such as Caquetá.
