The integration of ICT in environmental education: dynamic and sustainable approaches
Environmental education is one of the most influential aspects to be addressed today from the formative context, where it is intended to generate awareness in students through different strategies, such as projects, campaigns and debates. In turn, these strategies show positive changes, as long as they are carried out or an academic note is generated, but as time goes by, a general disinterest in the implementation of the concepts is perceived. Thus, this work was carried out under a quantitative bibliometric study between 2009 and 2024 using tools such as Scopus, VOSviewer and Bibliometrix, with emphasis on the incidence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in environmental education, looking for strategies where information is presented to students in a more dynamic way, generating more meaningful and lasting learning experiences. In this way, obtaining a total of 585 documents, the study highlights that the integration of ICT and gamification in environmental education constitutes an innovative and necessary strategy, which allows addressing the global challenges of sustainability, promoting dynamic educational practices and environmental awareness. In this way, educational video games can provoke a permanent attitudinal change, taking advantage of the growing access to ICTs and the urgency of educating new generations to face current and future environmental challenges.
