Abstract

Financial planning is a key factor for the profitability and operational stability of SMEs in Caquetá, Colombia, a region characterized by unstable economic conditions and limited access to financial resources. This study aims to analyze the impact of financial planning tools on the sustainability of local SMEs, focusing on cost analysis, liquidity management, and strategic financial planning. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach was used, combining a quantitative phase with 150 valid surveys from SME managers and a qualitative phase with 30 semi-structured interviews. The results show that structured financial planning significantly impacts profitability, explaining 35% of the variability in investment decisions. However, lack of training and limited technological infrastructure were identified as barriers to the effective implementation of these tools. This studyprovides evidence of the importance of formalizing financial planning practices in SMEs in Caquetá and highlights the need for public policies that promote training and access to digital technologies.
