Abstract

This study analyzes the management, knowledge, and access gaps that limit the development of nature tourism in the Forest Reserve Zone of El Caraño in Florencia, Caquetá, and the contribution of artificial intelligence to their reduction. The methodology involved a qualitative approach with a descriptive nature and propositional scope; developed in the heuristic, empirical analysis, and propositional phases. Information was collected through systematic search in Scopus and semi-structured interviews directed at nature tourism actors and experts in intelligent technologies, coded in ATLAS.ti 26. The results are organized into two blocks; first, the management, knowledge, and access gaps of the El Caraño Forest Reserve Zone, organized into four conditions of analysis (Environmental Management, Tourism Governance, Social and Appropriation Condition, and Technological); second, the contribution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for local actors, supported by a proposal for a participatory digital platform, which was designed in accordance with the social and technical requirements of the territory. A proposal in accordance with the findings in the territory, which refer to community availability to integrate technological tools in the development of nature tourism, as well as to management gaps, technical capacities, scarce institutional governance, knowledge and limited access to technological infrastructure. Ultimately, at a global level the relevance of AI in environmental and tourism scenarios is highlighted; however, in the local context it is necessary to reduce management gaps in order to articulate tourism development and AI integration.
