Abstract

This paper assesses the level of organizational sustainability in Colombian ecotourism firms through its economic, environmental, and social dimensions. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted with a stratified probability sample of 380 firms from six tourism regions of Colombia. Organizational sustainability was measured with 12 Likert-type items, four per dimension, embedded in an instrument that underwent review by seven experts, pilot testing, and psychometric validation. The overall scale showed a Cronbach’s alpha of .836, and the three dimensions achieved composite reliability above .75. Results placed organizational sustainability at a medium level, with an overall mean of 3.07. The economic dimension reached 3.09, the environmental dimension 3.07, and the social dimension 3.04, indicating a balanced profile without large dimensional gaps. In addition, 97.9% of the organizations were microenterprises. The study concludes that sustainability is incorporated at an intermediate level in ecotourism management and that simultaneous strengthening of the three dimensions is required, particularly through organizational capabilities, measurement practices, and greater formalization.

Keywords: organizational sustainability, economic sustainability, environmental sustainability, social sustainability, ecotourism.
