Sports trajectories and memory of students with disabilities in Caquetá: Get over Intercollegiate 2015-2021
The subsequent document restores the historical memory of Caquetá student athletes with disabilities who participated in the overcome Intercollegiate program between 2015 and 2022. The objective was to document and share their experiences and achievements, providing a glimpse into a historically marginalized population in the sports and social spheres. A qualitative approach was adopted with a descriptive and historical-hermeneutic design, using semi-structured interviews and life story analysis as the main techniques. The findings reveal that adaptive sports, besides promoting social inclusion, improve Para athletes' quality of life, interpersonal relationships, self-perception, and academic and career opportunities. Sports and recreation, recognized as fundamental human rights, are provided as a means for social inclusion and equal opportunities. In Colombia, the Supérate Intercollegiate program embodies this principle by offering sports and educational opportunities that guarantee the equitable participation of students with disabilities, strengthening their autonomy, visibility, and comprehensive development. The study contributes significantly to the collective memory of adapted sports in Caquetá and reinforces the need to strengthen public policies that guarantee the continuity and support of these processes.
